About Us

Our Mission

Wallaton aims to provide functional Devon cattle to the commercial and stud industries. Breeding programs are structured to concentrate on the important aspects of the beef industry to satisfy customers. Wallaton aims to exhibit high calibre Devon cattle at Australia's leading Devon exhibitions.

Wallaton Stud was established in 2001, with genetics from the Ashwood, Belmur, Barnstaple and Palinga Studs. Now Wallaton has developed an elite nucleus herd and often uses artificial insemination and embryo transfer to introduce and improve genetics.

Wallaton is a member of the Devon Cattle Breeders Society of Australia Ltd. and a participant in Devon Breedplan.

Why Devons? Devon cattle are docile, fertile and have good foraging ability. They are well muscled, easy calving, easy doing beef cattle that are sought after by modern beef breeders. Devons readily fatten on the varied Australian pastures.

The Wallaton Team

Wallaton is a family based partnership, who work together to achieve the breeding of elite Devon cattle. The partnership has been associated with Devon cattle since 1991, through the former Ashwood Stud, in which we actively promoted breeding and sales of Devon cattle.

     Pauline Wood:
Pauline has been involved in breeding of Devon cattle for over 18 years. Pauline works with her children Anthony and Sophia in the Wallaton stud. Pauline is responsible for the day to day running of the property and prepares the cattle for show and sale. When the Wallaton schedule is less demanding, Pauline works as a mobile travel agent and handles a lot of buisness where Devon Cattle are concerned. She also works casually with Macquariedale Organic Wines to help satisfy her passion for a fine red!

 Sophia Butler:
Sophia, a Phd canditate at the University of Queensland working in fertility of Bos indicus cattle. Sophia uses her practical knowledge and new modern breeding techniques to accomplish excellence in Devon cattle. Sophia is a trained IVF technician for research purposes and hopes to pursue artifical breeding as a profession after studies. Sophia has been heavily involved in the breeding and exhibition of Devon cattle since the age of 8.

 Anthony Butler:
Anothony is a civil engineer working for Maunsell. He is actively involved in his spare time with exhibition of the stud, marketting and of course general farm duties.

   Bud and Penne
Bud (Belrieve Budweizer) is the farm manager. A registered Australian Working Kelpie, he handles all the cattle with the 'help' of Penne. When he is not the farm manager he is the main stud sire of the Belrieve Working Kelpie Stud. Penne, Jack Russell Terrier, is employed to oversee hay making activities, pigeon, rat and mice culling and of course finding snakes!
