Progeny of Wallaton Nell X01 and Wallaton Bucaneer A10 will be the stars of our team. The Dolly sisters will be exhibited once again, but this time with calves at foot by Wallaton Bucaneer A10. Two new Dolly's have entered the team also by Wallaton Bucaneer A10. We have a new young bull Wallaton J.B. D05 (named after our neighbour Jim Brown). Wallaton Bucaneer A10 will be represented in the sire's progeny class with 3 Wallaton Dolly D03, Dolly D10 and J.B. D05.
This should be an excellent show to come and see some elite Devon cattle represented from numerous studs.
VALE - Wallaton Buccaneer A10

Wallaton Bucaneer passed away at his new home in Grafton after being bitten by a brown snake. Some semen has been retained in Bucaneer that will now be used at Stud. He has left a beautiful line of progeny at Wallaton and we hope that he has passed on the same quality prior to passing away.
2008 Wrap-Up - What a Year for Wallaton!
Posted: 14/01/09
During 2008 Wallaton has had the most successful show ring results ever, taking out 5 broad ribbons from 5 head exhibited at the 2008 Sydney Royal Easter Show, and marginally missing out on most successful exhibitor to Vix Devons (a long standing holder of the title). Next time Vic! Wallaton backed-up for the 2008 Ekka, Royal Brisbane Show to take out Junior and Senior Champion females with the Dolly sisters C01 and B15 respectively, with B15 continuing as the Grand Champion Female.
Our 2008 bull sale success followed the success in the show ring. On top of the great paddock sales, Wallaton experienced record bull sale prices with 100% clearence average of $5875 and a top price of $7250 for Wallaton Buccaneer A10 (AI).
Our open day to host our visitors from the World Devon Conference allowed us to put Wallaton on the map. Visitors from England, New Zealand, USA and Brazil viewed the Wallaton herd and this was coupled with media and television coverage of the event.
With a dry spell from carcass competitions, Wallaton donated a steer to Singleton High School in order to promote youth involvement in the Devon breed. Congratulations to Singleton High School with the 2nd place in the open over 426kg category of the singleton carcass competition with a Wallaton bred Devon x Santa steer. Thank you to Kirkwoods Produce for their assistance in the feeding preparation of the steer.
We look forward to the Devon arena in 2009. It is no suprise we will be exhibiting at the major Devon shows in the country. We have some exciting bulls on offer this year sired by Wallaton Jester Z05 (AI)(ET), such as Wallaton Joker C04 the Reserve Junior Champion at the 2008 Sydney Royal Easter Show. We are conducting more ET programs with the focus on polled genetics and are continuing our involvement with exposing the Devon breed to youth and carcass competitions.
Good luck in the new year!

DOLLY SISTERS WIN EKKA!
At the 2008 Brisbane Royal Show (Ekka) our extensive use of embryo transfer programs have paid off. Our most successful cow Wallaton Nell X01 was flushed to one of the heaviest Devon bulls recorded Palinga Buckeye X52 to produce two outstanding heifers Wallaton Dolly C01 and Wallaton Dolly B15. Wallaton Dolly was named the Junior Champion heifer and Wallaton Dolly B15 was named the senior champion female over all other cow and calf exhibits. The two sisters then competed for the grand champion Devon female, where Dolly B15 won the title. James Laurie the judge commented on her overall capacity and structural correctness made her worthy of the award.
The Dolly sisters were also named Junior and Reserve Junior Champion females at the 2008 Sydney Royal Easter Show. The heifers will be shown at the 2009 Sydney Royal Easter Show and 2009 Ekka with calves at foot. These heifers will be on display at our World Conference Stud visit. These heifers are due to be flushed late April 2009. Their dam Wallaton Nell X01 will be flushed again to Palinga Buckeye X52 in October 2008.

SYDNEY ROYAL EASTER SHOW 2008
Wallaton's most successful exhibition yet!
The 2008 Sydney Royal Easter show saw one of the best line up of Devon cattle for some years with a strong female competition demonstrated from all participating studs. Wallaton entered 5 head to return with 5 broad ribbons. Wallaton dominated in the junior heifer classes with two full sisters Wallaton Dolly B15 (AI) (ET) and Wallaton Dolly C01 (AI) (ET) taking out Junior Champion and Reserve Junior champion heifer respectively. The Wallaton females continued to excel in the female classes whereby Wallaton Viola B08 (AI) (ET) was named reserve senior champion female, a big credit as she was still a heifer heavy in calf.
The Wallaton Bull team conitued the success with Wallaton Joker C04 taking out reserve junior champion bull at 13 months of age. Joker was the Devon bull with the highest growth for age (ADG 1.41 kg) on exhibition. Wallaton Buccaneer A10 was the heaviest devon bull on exhibition at 1020kg (ADG 1.1 kg) and was reigned the reserve senior champion. He was scanned in with an EMA of 129 cm. This was a credit to the bull as he spent the summer months covering the majority of the Wallaton herd.
We are pleased to annouce Buccaneer is now offered for sale, we are expecting his first calf crop in a few months time and we are retaining a semen share in the sire so his superior genetics cannot be lost in our valuable breeding program. For more information please see our cattle for sale.

WALLATON HEIFER MAKES AN IMPRESSION IN THE 2007 MAITLAND SHOW
Devon cattle were represented at the 2007 Maitland show by the Wallaton Stud. A total of 97 head were entered, of which 3 were Devons. Two animals were exhibited in the junior bull classes, where Wallaton Buccaneer A10 (AI) sired by Palinga Buckeye X52 was named junior champion over the Rotokawa 688 son Wallaton Lennie A11. A 10mth old heifer Wallaton Viola B08 (AI) (ET) was the only female to be exhibited, however the judge Mr Ted Laurie commented that the heifer is a very exceptional example of the breed and expressed his disappointment of the lack of competition.
The Devons went on to hold their own in which was an Angus dominated interbreed competition. In the junior interbreed heifer class, Wallaton Viola B08 (AI) (ET) went on to cause the judges perplexion in making the decision between her and the PC Angus heifer. Eventually the Angus heifer took the title, but it was excellent to see a Devon female shake competition of a truly high calibre class.
